Has anyone else had this problem:
I'm working with my third Tom Tom 630. The other two had the same problem.
After a few months the device went haywire and kept on directing me to the
nearest police station. The device would not let me go back to the original
screen. It was like a ghost kept on pressing on the "Find nearest Police
station". I'm waiting for the new tom tom, but when I called the person on
the
other end advised me not to update the next device. The problem appears to
be
the software. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a 930 and have exactly the same problem. The TomTom will suddenly go
haywire as if someone was pressing the screen. Exactly the same symptoms as
you described.
I thought it was the touch screen playing up. Maybe due to vibration in the
vehicle. Then I caught the unit doing it while lying completely still on a
table. I think I have come to the conclusion that its a software problem. I
have done a complete factory re-set and cleared the internal RAM. I have
switched off all the features I could think of and for a while I thought I
had cured it. Then it did it again, for no reason at all. It stopped again
after about 2 hours.
I have not been able to reproduce the fault since (about 2 months ago) but
I'm sure it will suddenly come on again at some random time.
Strangely enough, it always seems to happen just when you're relying on the
TomTom the most, nearly at your destination in a strange city and you just
need the last few directions and ... away it goes.
The strangest thing.
