Hello Guys, I'm doing a report at university and I was wondering i
anyone can help me. I'm currently Researching Satellite Navigatio
systems and I'm wondering why certain colors are used on them, fo
example orange is used on some, blue, greens purple for road direction
etc.... is it as simple as the colors imply certain things like Blu
used to show water, green to show grass land, brown for woodland or i
there more to it?

if your not sure on the answer do you know where i could go to find thi
information out.

Thanks Waseem

If you mean the map display then you should go to the various
manufacturer sites and download the manuals.

I doubt you will find an agreed upon standard for the colors. A
competent designer selects screen features that are easy to see ..
colors, contrast etc. If the design is successful the user will
quickly lean to interpret the display.

It's a human factors engineering thing.

How do you get two pages out of of "there are no standards, it depends
on the manufacturers"?

Mind you, I was never any good with padding out my reports. :-)
