Are V8 maps worth it over V7?

Hi

I have a TomTom 720 with version 7 maps on (think it's v7.405.??? or
something similar). Anyway, I notice that there is now the lane guidance
(or whatever its called) on my TomTom but it doesn't work with my version of
maps, requires V8. I don't want to purchase V8 just for this feature alone
so was wondering if they are noticeably better? How up to date are V8
compared to V7?
