TomTom One XL V2 European Maps. How do I cancel a Navigate to?

I do not seem to be able to cancel a "Navigate To" session, once I
have set one up. The thingy just keeps trying to tell me to go to the
original destination, even though I have changed my mind about where I
want to go. The only way to shut her up, is to type in the new
destination, even though I know how to get there (and have been there
a million times, without the help of a TomTom). Can anybody help
please?

Set up anothe4r session & cancel it before it finishes the route.
Always works with me.

Does this version not have a "CLEAR ROUTE" button?

Does not have "clear route" option

Turning off TomTom seems to be the brilliant solution which I never
thought of, will try it tomorrow and see if it does what it says on
the box!

That doesnt help. I do that regularly when I manage to forget to put
the charger cable in the car and want to save the internal battery.

While turning it off does stop the messages etc, you no longer have
the display of the name of the road you are currently on and the
speed camera warnings and exceeding the speed limit warnings etc.

Actually I tried mine today, it does remember everything and carries
on working as if I had not turned it off, so that solution does not
work for me, surely there is a way of cancelling a "Navigate To"
session????????

Yes, either use the clear route when its available or start another
navigate to and then cancel it before you enter the full destination etc.
