I have been given a TTOne v2 The memory card says UK IE and is 250 MB but
was used for something else apparently then wiped. No backup files exist.

I have run a recovery programme on the card and it is nearly full of files -
which I have restored but I have no way of knowing if any of these are the
original map files etc. certainly the original application files have gone -
the unit doesnt recognise the card - so I connected to Home to see what
would happen - the unit was recognised fine - I d/l the latest application
files onto the card and the unit now recognises the card and looks for the
map(s) but cant find anything.
There are certainly some files that are big enough to be map files (70+ and
55+MB) but they are .jpg and .exe so probably arnt right - could someone
tell me roughly what should be on the memory card and what file type the
maps should be? Are the audio files also separate?
If all the original files have gone is there any way of rowing back to a
working unit or is this now a bin job! I believe from what I have gleaned
that the maps are tied by encoding to the hardware unit and certainly Home
does not recognise that there is a valid enough unit to be able to update by
simply buying a new set of maps presumably if Home cant find original maps
it wont allow you to go any further...!
Id be grateful for a bit of help if anyone here knows!!
Charlie

Unless you can get better advice - There are several TT forums on
nternet* - you may want to check with TT support to see what it will cost
to get your unit restored. As I understand it, all software is locked to a
hardware serial number.

*Google for "tomtom forum"
