How do I increase the memory of my Tomtom One XL?

I have tried putting in SD cards but an instruction appears on the
screen to remove the card. I read somewhere that you put the card in,
switch on and then off which is supposed to formaat the card but this
does not work.

Not like that it wont.
Connect the TT to a PC using a USB lead
The card appears as a new drive letter often E:
copy all the files and folders to the PC
put the bigger card in the TT
copy the files and folders back to the TT
Disconnect and turn on your TT and there you are.
Put the original card in a safe place in case you
ever need to clone it again.

Works like that with my original version 1 TomTom
I expect yours will be much the same.

Make sure that the new card has the same format (probably FAT32), and
label (TOMTOMDISK probably) as the original

I had a problem with some cheap no name ebay SD cards from China.
Wouldn't format at all.
Stuck to Kingston & Sandisk since then and all's been fine since.
