TomTom Map Update

Updating Map to my TomTom using TT Home. It downloaded the new map, but
is taking about an hour (so far) to move it to internal memory. I put
the cursor where the blue line ends and it looks like it hasn't moved
recently. No indication that the program is not responding. Is this
normal? Anyway to kick start the copying? What happens if I abort, would
I have to d/l the map again or would it pick up the copying where it
left off? What's up with this?

Sorry you are having problems. Once you have downloaded the map and it is
stored on your PC then you will not need to download it again. Also there is
no danger to the TomTom in disconnecting it during a map transfer.

The simplest approach is to switch off the TomTom and close Home. Then start
them both up again and ask to update. Home may offer you the map and then
instead of downloading it, may move straight to the transfer.

If this does not help then in Home go to "Manage my (device name)" and review
what maps are on the device and what are on the computer. If you see the good
new map (v860?) on the computer then feel free to delete whatever map is on
the device. Then in Home, go to "Add Maps" and select the map on the computer
and transfer it to the device.

Or call TomTom support who is always very helpful.

Sorry, that was the wrong screen.

In Home go to "Add Traffic, Voices, ..." then "Items on my computer" (may be
on the third sub-screen), select the new map (v860?) and click Add to start
up the transfer from PC to TomTom device.

It is on the computer itself. I have tried three times now to
transfer it to the internal memory. Each time it goes until it is about
3/4 done although I don't how accurate the measurement is, then it just
stops. On the TT itself, the screen goes from the one with a
representation of the TT with a hand, the red X and the warning about
now stopping to just the represenatation of the TT. Stays that way for a
hour or more before I gave up. The Finder (it is a Mac) did not indicate
it was no longer responding.
When I gave up and aborted, THEN it would not do anything and the
Finder indicated it was no longer responding. Any suggestions?

Other than to delete any old (or fragment of new) map that is on the device,
then no more suggestions. I regret I am totally ignorant of all matters Mac.

Maybe a TomTom/Mac user can help you more.

Else do call TomTom and ask them.

I did after I tried what you suggested. They told me to do basically
the same thing. This is the second time I d/l maps (the first right
after I got it) and the first one was smoooootttthhhh! I think I'll try
once more overnight to see if maybe it would work better with nothing
else going on.
Figure worse that happens is that I have to restore from the
back-up (thank you Lord for my OCD tendencies-- grin).
And thanks to you for the assist.
