I was recently given a TomTom one V3 which works well but whenever i pass
any speed camera on both sides of the road it gives an alert signal. Is
there a setting that only gives a signal for the direction that you are
going or is that how all sat navs work?
I used to have a Road Angel Classic and that only gave signals for the
direction you were travelling.

Yes, there is a setting, when you enable warn near POIs, it gives you an
option of setting warn only when in direction of travel (or something like
that), I must admit I leave it in the both direction mode, as a lot of
cameras are spun round to cover either carriage way.

You amaze me. My TomTom can be set to sound an alarm whenever I am within
a prescribed distance of a POI. Did some new software come out which
allows a POI to be given a "direction" such that the TomTom will know
whether one is approaching that POI from its front or from its rear?

You're right, checked today, the setting I was thinking about was "Warn only
when on route".
