When I look at the grid reference of my actual position on the etrex I am
acurate on the eastings but up to 1/3mile out on the northings.
On the Units page the settings are:
    Position Format : British Grid
    Map Datum :WGS 84
    Units :Statute
    North Ref :True

Is it because my map is dated or is there another setting I have overlooked.

    Cheers Kev

  2. Your Map Datum should be set to Ord Srvy GB.

    Compared to what?

    Try position format hddd.dddd° or hddd°mm'ss.s" - that's mostly
    used.

Well, we would be guessing, as you haven't said what you were
comparing the GPS position to. Regardless, it's likely that what
you have wrong is the Datum. In many situations, unless you use
the same datum on the GPS that was used to make the map(or whatever
you are referencing), you're position won't "match up".
In the UK, you should probably be using the Ordnance Survey
Great Britian(OSGB) datum, not WGS84, particularly if you are
checking your position on OSGB maps.

Thanks to everybody for their help, particularly Dave Patton, as when I
changed to OSGB my Etrex was suddenly accurate. Cheers again everyone....Kev

    Your map datum is incorrect.
For British National Grid, you need to use the Ordinance Survey Great
    Britain datum.
