Synchronise or export/import places of interest between OVI Maps and Viewranger

I have a Nokia 5800 phone which includes a GPS. I have Ovi Maps (free) as a
route-planner and have bought Viewranger with the 1:50,000 maps.

Is there a way to copy places of interest between Ovi and Viewranger so I
can add a POI to Ovi as a "drive to" destination and also to Viewranger so I
can see the POI on an OS map?

Ovi doesn't seem to have the ability to export POIs to a standard file
format (eg GPX) that can be imported to other apps such as Viewranger. Where
does Ovi store its POIs and is there a conversion program from this file to
something that Viewranger can read in?

Going the opposite way would be useful as well: it is easier to position a
POI on an OS map with detailed landmarks than it is on a larger-scale but
featureless Ovi map.

In both cases, I'm assuming that I want to create a POI when the GPS isn't
located at the exact place that I want to bookmark: that would be trivially
easy!

See support.viewranger.com/wikihelp/index.php/Landmarks_Symbian

You can import Landmarks into ViewRanger as POIs, or can export ViewRanger's POIs as Landmarks. Landmarks, or Favourites, are the Symbian platform's points-of-interest, which can be seen in Nokia / Ovi Maps and some other software. In Ovi Maps you can create one using 'Save place'.
