thanks, people. I went to the hardware store to look for the 3M stuff
and my buddy wants me to try this extra-sticky-back Velcro. Maybe
that'll work and won't harm the dashboard.

Clean, clean and clean before applying. Sometimes it works well,
sometimes (stuff in the plastic dash) makes the adheasive fail (turn
gooey) in a few days. You just have to do it and see.

Why are you "stuck on" attaching to the dashboard ?? ;-)

Most people who do that are eventually sorry they did.
Other mounts are available. I have one that clips to the AC vent that I
like.
They are not made by Magellan so you have to search a bit.
"Bean bag" weights seem to have a big following but don't know if there is
one that fits the Magellan or not.

Check Ebay for beanbag mounts that work with Magellan.

For future consideration: try responding as a reply in the original thread.
It makes it much easier for people to figure out what you're talking about.

If you use a vent mount be careful. I had one with a Magellan Spotrakmap and
wasn't paying attention when I took it out and broke the vent. Now I have a
big open hole. Its in my beater pickup so I could care less. But if I'd done
that in my car I'd been ****ed! Yes, my fault I was in a hurry but I just
want to let you know, it can happen. I used this set up for a few years to!
