It's up to you. At a minimum, I'd suggest downloading the firmware
updates for your GPS as they become available, so you'll have
copies should you ever need them in the future. For example,
you may not have a copy of version 2.34, should you want to
re-install that version at some point, however, you can
get a copy here:

I've told Garmin about the incorrect wording on their webpage,
years ago, and although they said they would fix it, they never
have done so.
