Just got a HTC TyTn (= Kaiser). Came with TomTom software. Have got UJK
Maps, but haven't room to put them on the main memory so they're on a memory
card. Thought I would uninstall TT and put it on the Mem card so it might
find the maps. No such luck, there was no option to install to the storgage
device. Is tyhere a way of pointing TT towards the memory card where the
maps are? There don't seem to be any options to do anything with TT other
than download a free map of London which I'm not interested in.

Are you sure there was no option to install to the storage card? I've
got an SPV M3100 and have installed TT on the storage card no problem.

As far as I recall I was asked if I wanted to install TomTom in main
memory at the start of the install - I replied no and was asked where I
wanted to install it.

I'm pretty sure:
If you put your maps in the "right" places, TomTom will find them.
Otherwise, it won't really let you browse. And that means folders
right of the root of the storage card. So, on my device, the maps for
New England and mid-Atlantic states are in a folder called
"New_England_and_Mid-Atlantic-Map" on the storage card. That's the
name the TomTom setup program chose when I opted to copy maps to my
"PC" hard drive, and I copied the whole folder (including name) to the
storage card.

There is an option in the menu to load maps or is that where the problem is?
I have an older version on my Ipaq where it is on page two of the "change
preferences" menu under the switch map tab
The maps are loaded into directorys on the SD card titled Great-Britain-Map
and Canary_Islands-map makes me wonder if the -map extension allows the
detection.

That seems to be my problem - I'm not seeing any menu anywhere. All I get
when I open TT is a menu to download a free map of London with no option to
do anything else at all.

I'm inclined to agree that the program searches for files and/or
folders with the expected extension. But only one folder down from the
root. So the program will find files in
\Storage Card\Canary_Islands-map
but not in
\Storage Card\My Documents\Canary_Islands-map
or
\Storage Card\TomTom\Canary_Islands-map

I once had hoped that and so when I got a TomTom GO 910 with less than 2GB
of maps delivered on a 20GB drive I tried to make backup copies of stuff
further down the tree, but the v7 software sniffed out all the copies of
all the maps in every nook and cranny which totally confused me with the
multitude of choices that appeared on the Manage Maps screen.

What version of TTN did it come with, if its TTn7.901 this doesnt seem to
like any of my maps, however 7.45 seems to pick up everything ok.
