I have been having the same problem. Would connect for a second and
not be recognized by computer and click off. Tried all of the things
recommended by Garmin site. (And I do mean ALL things) to no avail.
Finally found a post that the only thing different from the last time
we updated was I added a memory chip. Took out the memory chip and
have had no problem since. COME ON GARMIN. GET WITH IT. MAKE THIS A
SUGGESTION!!!

By "memory chip" don't you mean SD card?
It's possible the card has become corrupted.

I'd add questions about:

What capacity card?

SD or SDHC?

Firmware version installed on the 270?

Whether the firmware version is supposed to support cards of the
capacity being installed?
