Works now. Allows you to download waypoints one at a time to your Garmin or
Tom-Tom gps through your PC or Mac using certain browsers. You will need
to download a large plugin from Garmin.

I can't see anything on garmin.com about it. Can you direct me to the
plugin?

Cheers

weird huh - Garmin webmaster missed the memo

The only way I found the Garmin links was via the Google maps
and the Send To GPS selection... though it is avail for both Garmin & TomTom

BUT - it basically just allows you to find a "point of interest",
and then send it to your GPS.
SO - what would you go find on Google Maps
that you would not be able to find using the GPS "Where To" ?
I guess all the local points that didn't exit when the GPS mapping firmware
was loaded.

I don't know about Google maps so much but I use Google earth all the time
to actually locate POIs, addresses. street locations etc.
Store them as individual points on GE then transfer whole folders (ex. all
my Madrid cigar stores and meeting places) to the SD card on the Nuvi. They
are then available as Custom POIs.

I'm expecting delivery of my nuvi 200w on Monday.

Is that the only way to use custom POIs, on the SD card? There's no way to
get them on the internal unit hard drive, for lack of a better term? Also,
I've been checking out some sites with different custom POIs. There's also
some custom icon files, both in 22 x 22 and 32 x 32 sizes. Any
recommendation as to which icon size works best with the widescreen nuvi's?

Thanks!

Hi
No it will load them onto the system if you don't have a sd card. If
there is a sd card installed with them on, it will then ask if you want
to install on the system if you remove the sd card.

I believe the garmin will support bitmap icons no larger than 24x24.

You will need to acquire a standard mini-USB cable to connect to your
computer,
like with current pocket cameras.
Then the Garmin appears as two flash drives.
D: for it's internal memory
E: for the SD card - even if not present

You can then copy properly formatted POI files to those letters and
sub-dirs.
