New Nuvi 1450 -- now some questions...

My first automotive GPS, the 1450, arrived and works well. I went to
the My Garmin site to register it, did so, then performed a "software
update." That took around 40 minutes, and when all was done per
instructions, everything was fine. I logged on again, reconnected the
1450, and had ANOTHER "software update" notice! Huh??

I took note of some 1450's software before the update, and the only
thing that "seems" to have changed afterward was the "Text" version,
from 4.10 to 5.40. In any case now, the software version on top of the
screen shows 5.40 (and unfortunately I don't know what it was prior to...)

My question: should I have had another software update notification
after apparently completing a successful one? For those of you who may
have a 1450, is version 5.40 the latest?

Thanks.

Thanks, George!
I'm assuming you're talking about having the 5.40 version and not the
fact that you have a 1450, right? And have you had any issues
downloading updates to maps or unit software? If 5.40 is indeed the
latest version, I wonder why the site tells me I'm due another update.

Just like any other computer, sometimes an update doesn't apply until a
pre-requisite is met. The pre-requisite for the 2nd update was apparently
something in the first update.

Yes.

It could be for something like a new vehicle icon, different voice language
or, as I noticed a few days ago, some sort of update (I forget now what it
was) that does not even apply to the 1450. I wouldn't worry about it --
just update the maps as they come available and don't worry about the other
stuff unless you need/want it for some reason.

It sounds like the first update was for something other than the
1450's firmware, or (less likely) to 4.10 from something even
earlier.

The jump from firmware 4.10 to 5.40 covers 11 cumulative
upgrades as detailed here:

John, you've shown me an area of the Garmin website that I never found
before. How did you get there?

I have a Nuvi 2360, and cannot find the details for my software updates
either.

I became aware of the list of fixes years ago when doing a
firmware upgrade on my GPSMAP 76CSx. Then it's a matter of
"creative googling".

That was a tough one. I eventually got it with this google
search expression:

23xx "Updates & Downloads" site:www8.garmin.com

Thanks for the info and the link, John. Much appreciated.

Final question: is there any way to change, download, whatever the
speaker person (Jill, in my case)? When 'Jill" tells me to turn left,
I'd like to smack her. Any ideas?
