My daughter lives in a fairly rural area in Alabama.
She is in Lee County and her Zip code is 36877.
The local roads are generally named with a number in the form of Lee Rd
961.
I have a 4250 with the 2007 maps. It does not allow me to put a number after
the Lee Rd entry.

Before I spend the money for the latest updates, would some kind soul who
has the latest updates try to input an address in that manner just to see if
the street name can be entered.

Trying cross streets is not a help because so many of the streets in the
area are similarly named.

Thanks for any help.

Charlie

What doest that number (961 in your example) signify?

What we know: The GPS maps do not conform to what you "think" is the
standard. Apparently they use a different naming convention.
What we reasonably suspect: That the map company will NOT be changing their
"standard" naming convention from one update to another.

So......what to do? Position yourself (on the GPS) somewhere nearby the
area of interest.....like your daughter's home. Then by zooming and
scrolling the map, find one of the roads in question and then zoom in close
enough to see what name the GPS uses.

Another way is to actually position yourself on one of the roads in
question. The "name" of the road should appear on the map, top or bottom,
don't remember which at the moment.

Once you find out what convention the map company uses, your problem should
be solved.......hopefully.

That is the name of the road. A whole street address might read 1234 Lee
Rd. 961
A house on the street in the subdivision might be 789 Lee Rd 962.

There are dozens of roads in that area that have no word names. It is like
saying State Road 45.

It may be. There are only 2 map companies. Even if Magellan uses the
"other one", a lot of the conventions are the same. A lot of the features
seem to function in a similar manner too. Funny how that works. ;-)

(I hope the dash - is not required?)

BINGO: I tried using the CR and the road number . It di not get me to the
right street, but it did get me to the right subdivision . It came up with a
street only a block away. I have no problem finding my way in the subdision.
Getting there from the main highway has proved to be a challenge in the
past.

Interestingly enough the maneuver list showed one road along the way as
"CR-240, Lee Road 240". Not every county road showed this dual designation
but a few did.

Thanls for the help.

Charlie

The dash is part of the name in the search list.

Charlie:

Almost all of the roads are named Lee Road because that is Lee County...
Smith's Station, AL

Good Luck

Bob
