Btw, the "cradle" is just the part that clamps onto the garmin itself and
has the hole in the back that the ball snaps into. I just need one of those.
So if any of you have an extra one that you have no need for, you have a
potential buyer here. Of course, it must be in excellent, "like-new"
condition.

I'm in the NY area but paying for some shipping should not be a deal
breaker. I prefer USPS Priority Mail. I can pay by Paypal, or any of a
number of other ways if your prefer.

Amazon has cradles for the Nuvi 2xx and 7xx series, (I was just
looking at them last week), so they probably also have a cradle for
yours.

That's a 200 series Garmin. I already knew about that one- those are easy to
find. Mine is a 2000 series Garmin. Much different animals. Garmin has not
yet released what I'm looking for as a stand-alone part. Thanks anyway.

As I posted to Hans, not true. Amazon and eBay are always the first places I
check. Called Garmin too, just to see if they'd do me a "customer service"
favor. No dice. Thanks though.

I have to give you credit for trying and I thank you for the effort at the
same time. But no, it is not like any of those. The closest thing to what I
want looks like this

but that one, which was suggested by another poster, is designed for the 200
series Garmin. The one I need looks similar, but has contact pins at the
bottom for making some electronic connection to the unit itself.

I've looked at and considered the RAM unit, but, as you can see, it has not
only the center cradle that I'm looking for, but an entire frame around the
device too. That might not matter but it's not clear if the RAM parts work
only with other RAM parts or if they are compatible with standard Garmin
parts. I have a Garmin beanbag and a Garmin windshield mount and the cradle
I'm looking for needs to work with those.

I have called Garmin and they told me the cradle I'm looking for is not sold
by itself: I'd have to buy another windshield or dashboard mount in order to
get one according to them. They would not sell me just a cradle as a
courtesy either.

Just for the record, I do research/google on my own before I post requests
on newsgroups, the latter idea being only out of desperation, believe me. I
like to do my own work and don't expect others to do it for me. I am
greatful for your trying though. Thanks again.
