Hello
I have a TT Go Live 1005. It connects & updates using my laptop so there
is nothing wrong with the device. However when I use my desktop pc My
TomTom is always "connecting" and never actually connects.

The computer device manager shows that the TomTom is properly installed so
the problem's not there.

I uninstall & reinstall MyTomTom but it makes no difference.

I've searched the TomTom forums to no avail.

Can anyone suggest how I can connect to my desktop pc please?

Tony

You cant assume that the problem isnt there, that device manager
'properly installed' is actually a very superficial measure of whether
it is actually properly installed or not.

You basically have to decide if the problem with the desktop is
a hardware or software problem.

I'd personally image the desktop, do a completely clean install of
the OS and MyTomTom on it and see if that fixes the problem.
If it does not, you have a hardware problem with the desktop and
can now try different USB ports and stop using the USB hub if
you are using one with the desktop etc. And when you have resolved
that, just restore the image you made before you did the test.

If that clean install does fix the problem, the problem is with
the USB stack in the OS. That can happen with XP and worse.
The fix for that gets more messy but is doable.

Thanks; you've given me a lot to think about. I don't fancy doing a clean
reinstall of my OS at the moment so I'll just live with using my laptop for
TomTom. The Desktop works for everything else (I think <g>)
