Misstatement about GPS surveillance, in our US Supreme Court

Just listening to a Supreme Court oral argument about the police
sticking a GPS device on somebody's car and tracking him.

At 22:30, one of the lawyers tells the Supreme Court justices...
"it doesn't show you where the car stopped"

I can't imagine why anybody would say that, even in casual
conversation. Just about any GPS can tell where you stop and for
how long.
