is there an update for new software to buy to fix the mispronces?

For example Los Angeles sounds like Lossann Hellees.

Maybe try a different voice. On my Aussie Tomtom, the different voices
pronounce differently a lot of the time. I use Samantha, as I find that one
has the clearest pronunciation.

The road near me (Nettleham) normally pronounced "Nettelam"is pronounced by
Samantha as either "Net-lee-ham" or "Ned-delam" depending on which it is
approached from !

I tried that. But the non computer voices dont say the street names. Are
there other computer voices that one can upload.? There is only one on the
the TT.

sure is .. turn your unit on, connect to pc & when TomTom Home fires
up, there an option to download to your gps .. there a pretty good
selection of voices, both computer & others (least english language)
for free, also a multitude of voices at a price.

Try using the anglo version instead of the wetback version.
