Well, after bad mouthing Magellan and their "service" I broke down last
night and downloaded the firmware upgrade (4.7) for my 3200. Installed
without a hitch....surprise!

I then discovered that there was a map update via a SD card rather than
the "smoke and mirrors" of an Internet download. Ordered the SD and
discovered there is a AAA 15% discount for purchases from Magellan.

Charged it on American Express which is very good about reversing
charges with a customer complaint.

If anyone is interested I'll update late next week with the results.

BTW-This unit works great on a motorcycle; very rugged after a couple of
years and several thousand miles. When it starts to rain I slip a
prophylactic over it for protection (non ribbed or lubricated for her
pleasure). Still visible and audible.
