Lost Favourites

When I update the maps on my TomTom One all my favourites are lost. Is
there any way to avoid this? I suppose it depends on how the favourites
are stored - if they relate to a specific point on a specific map rather
than latitude & longitude then I suppose they would disappear - but it
would be a silly way to keep them. Having just signed up for the
quarterly update service, it will be a nuisance to have to re-enter
everything each time I get a map update.

I'm not sure if it's relevant, but the maps are stored on an SD card.

Regards,

Bob

I always create my favorites in one of my own POI categories first.
POI's don't disappear. It's pretty simple to create a favorite from an
existing POI, so that's the way I get my favorites back one by one
when needed after an update.

Not the best solution, but it works for me.

I believe that favourites are stored in Mapsettings.cfg. So before you
upgrade, do a backup.

When you have upgraded, find the backup that you've just made and find the
file Mapsettings.cfg. Copy this from the backup and paste into your new
upgraded version. Your new upgraded version will also have a much smaller
Mapsettings.cfg file which can be overwritten without any problems

I hope this helps

This does not work upgrading your map from 8.15 to 8.25...

Hi.
It does for me so it worth a try.
If your device won't accept it (map doesn't load), replace it by the
previous _saved_ one (if no backup just delete it) and use DK's tip (I do
that also).

Thanks - I'll bear that and the mapsettings.cfg idea in mind next time.
