Anyone have some recommendations as to what works on a laptop with a
60csx tethered to it? Streets & Trips doesn't work, Map Source doesn't
work, TrailerLife Campground Navigator doesn't work.

How do I get the 60csx info into a mapping program on my laptop?

If you have a MapSource mapping installed that you want to use, download
and use the free Garmin nRoute software. It will only work with Garmin
GPS receivers that output the Garmin proprietary NMEA sentences but it
is certainly worth a try.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask. Have you tried using the 60CSx with the NMEA
output set to NMEA/NMEA?

That will have it outputting the standard sentences instead of the
Garmin proprietary sentences and then it may work with the other
applications.

You may also need to have the NMEA data on a RS-232 COM port to use it
with the other apps. If so you can use the RS-232 output from the 60CSx
(the other pair that is on the DC power connector). Or can use a serial
to USB adapter and a virtual COM port.

One of the advantages of using nRoute is that the one USB cable with
take care of both powering the GPS receiver and handling the data.

compatible with a lot more software.

In reality though, I think nRoute is probably the way to go for you.

Okay...yea I set up nRoute with MapSource and it works fine. I have
enough Garmin "stuff" already...didn't want to have to buy more!

Hmmm is there any chance Garmin removed the GPS receiver on the newer
Mapsource version? I thought I have seen the option on very earlier
Mapsource which came with my StreetPilot V or StreetPilot III, or I mistaken
with other third party map program?
