.GPX Annotation Utility?

If I download a path (.gpx) from my Garmin Nuvi I can open it in,
say, TopoFusion, and see the path.

I want to annotate the path. i.e. insert comments like "Look for
a break in the hedge" or "Traffic on this section is dangerous:
walk the bike on the left side." before saving it as a
GoogleEarth .KML file.

OTOH, I don't even know if GoogleEarth's .KML syntax supports
comments along a track.

Anybody know of a utility that would facilitate this?

"GPS Utility" should do this and much more. You may need to convert
your track into a route of waypoints, so that you can comment the
waypoints, rather than trackpoints. See www.gpsu.co.uk.

Thanks. Sounds like "Waypoint" is what I'm thinking of when I
say "Comment"... and it looks like a .GPX file is composed of
both trackpoints and waypoints.

I'm starting to catch on to Google Earth's editing rules and for
now, GE seems tb doing everything I want.... before it dawned on
me that a point's color had to change to turquoise before I could
select/move it, it seemed like a random thing: sometimes I could
move it, other times I wound up with a lot of added points I
didn't want.

Also, it's finally soaked in that GE's .KML file also can contain
waypoints. Haven't doped out the explicit rules for how/when a
new waypoint gets added into a particular .KML file yet... but so
far all the ones I've added have gotten into the file I wanted
them in.
