Anyone know where I can go on-line to find ghost town coordinates?

This USGS web site has a group called populated places. I was told by
one of their people that any listing with the word historical after it
could be a ghost town.

Apparently they have two different people contradicting one another. I'm
not going to argue about it, all I know is I inquired if they had ghost
towns listed on their site, and I received an email saying under
populated places if it had historical after it, it could be a ghost
town. So if you want to argue, argue with them.

It looks to me like someone is playing with words, the rest of the quote
read "So, a ghost town is not historical, only abandoned". What the hell
is a ghost town if it's not an abandoned? If you want to argue, argue
with them.

I think "abandoned" is what someone thinks of when they picture a ghost
town. Buildings and whatnot are still there. I presume that "historical"
means there is no trace of whatever gave this waypoint its name, other than
the fact that the GPS coordinate is still a usable navigation element.

Again I say, argue with them, there are towns listed at
http://www.ghosttowns.com that have standing buildings and are also
listed on the USGS website.

"Aetna Springs Post Office (historical)" waypoint is within the area of
Aetna Springs Resort, and the old Post Office is still there.
It's not a Post Office, so it has been abandoned on that basis, but that
doesn't agree with the FAQ on the GNIS page.

Ghosttowns.com doesn't list any ghost towns around here, but there are
some.
