Incidentally, the eTrex shipped with firmware version 2.42. Current
revision on the Garmin website is 2.70. I downloaded the file and patched
the eTrex without incident. Kinda like buying a new computer with a Windows
operating system... the first thing it does is spend an hour applying 50 or
60 patches and security updates. :-)
