I just downloaded a map update for my Garmin Nuvi 255,
and have the new map files in Mapsource.

I also have a Nuvi 260.

Is there some way to just buy a map "unlock" code,
and install the same map image from Mapsource to the Nuvi 260 ?
OR -
am I forced to re-download the entire same image all over again
for multiple GPS units.

The map update is only for one GPS. If you want the same update for
another GPS, you have to buy a separate update.

Maybe you know--Dos the map updated via a t****ent* include the all the
latest POI's etc. or is it just map only?

Garmin map POIs are integral to the map files--not separate, unlike your
custom POIs.

hence the question that we asked about buying a 2nd map update
since we already have all the downloaded files - or even a CD/DVD - if we
had gone that route.

It looks like we could buy another download, and just view the new Unlock
code for the 2nd GPS,
and then use that with the 2nd GPS and Mapinstall to load the image onto the
2nd GPS.
Was just asking if there was some Garmin page I had missed that offered that
purchasing solution
for multiple units with the single previously downloaded image.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, you want to install the map
update you downloaded for one GPS to be installed on a second GPS?
Perhaps you can install that map update on another GPS with an unlock
code, which I suppose will be the same cost as the first download..
How about you call Garmin?
