Diference between Tomtom XL IQ and XL 2 IQ

I'm looking for a satnav for my mother and I'm interested in these usnits
but I'm puzzled by the diffences.

The specs look almost identical although the XL is marginally bigger. The
main difference is that the XL 2 comes with Tele Atlas software (which the
XL doesn't have) whilst the XL is "Traffic message channel ready" which I'm
guessing is to receive paid for traffic information.

I can't see that the latter would be too important for my mother (who would
be unlikely to subscribe to such a service) but I'm curious as to what the
Tele Atlas software adds.

Anyone got any experience of these units?

Spec (from Google) here:

XL 2

TIA

Forget the mention of Tele Atlas software, Tele Atlas is the mapping division
of TomTom and they don't do the software.

I believe the IQ 2nd Edition has their "simplified menu system" that lacks
certain TomTom functions and features that I find very important, such as
Itineraries and custom POIs.
