New Magellan Maestro 4250. Downloaded free update, but when I try to
install it the installer installs Vantage Point, which immediately
crashes. I just want the update.

I think you need to contact Magellan Tech support. If you have the GPS
registered log in then click on Tech support. They answered a question I had
in about 20 minutes.

The Vantage Point software is NOT compatible with the Maestro line and was
never intended to be used with it........but the web site does a TERRIBLE
job of explaining that (it doesn't even try).

So, "tell" the site that you have a 4250 and it should show you only those
updates that apply to THAT MODEL. Check the description to be sure. After
that, I think you will be fine.
