Hello happy Tomtom payers,

(Sorry for the bad translation, made by Yahoo robot )

A new official version (8.302) is online for Tomtom Go x20
Don't use it !

We could wait it solves FINALLY the bugs preceding updates. It is
nothing and even worse.
Not only the bugs are always there, but functions definitively
disappeared from Gox20. The functions " FM" transmission" are already
clearly cut down since several versions and synthetic voices were
reached of awfully stammering at the end of a few minutes of use.
Tomtom has not found any solution to make the synthetic voices smoother
, purely and simply the support of the synthetic voices is REMOVED on
Go x20!
The owners of x20 who are becomes versions 8.x to use the new maps
version 8 thus see injured of force by Tomtom. Or they loose the
benefit of the maps up to date 8.x and return in v7.x application, or
they accept the v8.x but without the synthetic voices and all their
quite practical functions.
We can ask the question of legality of such a degradation... nowing
that much users chose these models of Tomtom precisely for the advanced
functions that it proposed, in spite of the price higher than the
competitors.
To thus follow, hile hoping that Tomtom will rectify its errors
quickly.

French original version text:
Amis du soir, bonsoir,
Tomtom vient de sortir une mise à jour 8.302 de son application pour
les Go x20.

erreurs.

Hi guys.

As an alternative, you could try a non official navcore: eg a navcore
"designed" for x40 but fully operationnal (including ALG, IQ, ASR, TTS,
etc.) on x30, x20, x10 (that's my case) or even x00 and ONE (from V1 to
latest, but most of the case without TTS if RAM is 32Mb only).

Works fine for me.

Not here.

No, they did not. After upgrading to 8.302 I still have synthetic voice and
it no longer stutters. They fixed the stuttering.

No injury here. New updated maps costs money. All GPS devices charge for
updated maps, not just TomTom.

Legally you don't have a leg to stand on. TomTom fulfilled all it's
obligations, including producing fixes for bugs.

Thats arguable with the removal of the FM broadcast feature.

Not with the removal of the FM broadcast feature it didnt.

I bought my unit 12/08. I never saw or had the FM feature. Also don't really
want it. But...

So far I've done a few upgrades of maps and app. Each one seemed to have had
it's problems. This last one (8.302) is the first one that really was a 100
percent success, IMHO.

Irrelevant to the legal position.

Irrelevant to the legal position being discussed.

The real problem is supposedly legal (FM broadcasts that is). They
(TomTOM) claim that you can not have directions broadcast via FM as
that would be an intermitent, sporadic transmision which they (TomTom)
claim is not legal. Now pointing out to the dull heads that if one is
listening to the radio for directions the chances are you will also be
listening to music broadcast from the same machine doesn't even get
them to raise an eye brow. To be honest I have found that 'support'
aren't worth a used condom at a lesbian party on this issue. Whe I
pointed out that all their newer models (I've got a 920) were being
released with said facility all they said was that they would have to
release a 'bug fix' to stop it. When I pointed out that their sales
people are using said faciclity as a selling point they were strangely
quiet, but by that time I had come to the point of not having enough
energy to keep pushing.

TT don't appear to care about how many of their users are being
alienated & I don't think enough users are telling them so some one
else can carry the torch if they are bothered. As for me when I see
companies offering facilities for free (such as RDS) where TT charge
around £25 a _year_ I don't have to think really hard about who I most
probably won't be going with when I buy my next GPS.

Lest you didn't notice, the title of this thread is "[BUG] Version 8.302..."
My comment is completely relevant. Yours is not. The removal of FM (in an
earlier revision) is not relevant to this thread, as titled.

Yep.

And even if they were right on that, and they arent, the obvious way
to deal with that is to stop it being sporadic and have it continuous
instead, with that continuous mode enableable and disableable so that
those who decide that their country's law requires continuous enable
that or have that done by the TomTom based on its location etc.

And even the most stupid should be able to grasp that
the tomtom can broadcast something continuously even
when the user hasnt told the tomtom to do that.

> To be honest I have found that 'support' aren't worth

I havent found them to be any use on any issue.

Yeah, me too with another quite different problem. The droid obviously
had a problem with ear to ear dog **** so wasnt worth bothering with.

> TT don't appear to care about how many of their users are

Thats not that unusual tho, most operations have
no real way to get stupid design choices fixed.

The only real way to get that is when their opposition has
got a clue and they can see that its eating their lunch.

Yeah, I dont like the way they just make an obscene gesture in the
general direction of those who dont have the latest hardware either.

And what they charge for updates is barking mad, more than a whole new GPS.

Corse that last is one hell of a problem for the entire industry.

I just make an obscene gesture in their general direction and update it for free.

Lest you didn't notice, hordes of threads move on from whats mentioned
in the subject and hardly anyone bother to update the subject and that
isnt even feasible when the thread adds other topics to a particular thread.

Like hell it is to the legal position YOU commented on yourself.

> Yours is not.

Wrong.

> The removal of FM (in an earlier revision) is not relevant to this thread, as titled.

The legal position YOU commented on isnt either.
