Hi. I live in Los Angeles and I'm looking for a gps device to replace
my Thomas Guide.

I'm looking for the following:

- a GPS device I can easily mount on my dashboard and take with me when
I leave the car
- the ability to tell the device to only use side streets (that is, no
highways)
- a good-sized screen (not sure how big, but bigger than an IPhone)

Other features that would be nice but not necessary:

- a display of current traffic conditions
- voice-activated controls

I'm looking to spend up to about $350, but lower prices are preferred.

Thanks,

Skylamar

G to a store that sells all kinds and look. When you see what you
want come back and ask opinions. That's the easiest way.

The Garmin nüvi 855 has voice recognition, traffic data, a beautiful
screen and you can use the "Avoidances" section to de-select highways.

<https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=33922>

They're available for less than $200:
