accuracy of positionning system through ages

Dear all, I am looking for a reference relative to the precision/
accuracy of positionning system from ded recokning to GPS/DGPS. I am
currently seafloor samples roughly 100 nautical miles from the french
coast which coming from various sources (1850-2006).
