720 Voice Fails on Battery

After about an hour running on a fully-charged battery my
Go720 voice begins to stop warning of speed cameras,
stutter and becomes incoherent. The map continues though
for at least another hour. The stuttering doesn't happen
if it is plugged into the cars power socket.
Anybody know what the problem might be?

I suggest you take a look at the forum here
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/module...wtopic&t=71821

You will find that there have been many problems with both voice stutter and
slow map refresh since the version 8.300 update to the software which is
needed to use the current maps. There is a long and detailed fix in the
forums which at long last TomTom themselves are recommending. This involves
downloading version 8.320 of the software and the version 7 variants of the
computer voices (if you use them). As with all changes to your 720 make sure
you do a complete backup of the device first using Windows Explorer NOT
TomTome Home. This fixed mine and I am happy with it until TomTom themselves
issue a proper fix.

Some hope that is, the only way they appear to able to fix things is
to withdraw the 'feature' & there's already someone in goverment
complaining about the screen saying that users should just listen to
the voice prompts......Oh look TT blanks all the screens. It's the
way it's gone with the voice prompts over the FM radio link, wouldn't
put anything else past them with their wooly thinking.
