2 60CSX questions

I often go away for a couple of days walking, load a walk for each day
into the 6CSX before leaving home. The problem is the GPS seems to mix
up the walks, particularly it gives successive waypoints peculiar
numbers, even though the 2 Memory Map created routes have the waypoints
numbered from 1 to X in numerical order. Is there any way to avoid this?

Secondly while walking the display covers too large an area for comfort,
making fairly close waypoints difficult to see. I do of course use the
"IN" button to address this, but after a short time it reverts to the
extended display, is there any way to keep the display as is required?

I have a 76CSx but I think the setup is the same.
For the second problem, I think you can fix that with a change in the
following:
Go to SETUP
Go to MAP
Go to MAP SETUP - GENERAL
Second Item down - Auto Zoom - OFF

When you reach a way point the unit automatically reverts to showing the
whole route if Auto Zoom is on.
If Auto Zoom is off you can pick your desired Zoom Level while on your map
and it will stay at that setting until you change it.

Not sure about the first problem however.
Maybe marking the maps with Map 1 using way points 1 through 20, then Map 2
using way points 21 through 40, etc. might work.
Just a thought, have not tried setting up routes this way.

This may be too much trouble, but you can set up your walk as a "Route"
using MapSource on your computer, then transfer it to the 60CSx. Each
waypoint will be seen as a "VIA" on the route.

Thanks for your replies, Topaz's suggestion seems to work, though I have
not tried it yet in the field. As for yours jkneese as MapSource does
not show footpaths I have no idea how I would do that.
